The quality requirements of the separator

Separator is an important part in battery production, its quality directly affects the discharge capacity and service life of charge-discharge cycle of battery, so we must pay attention to the selection and research of battery separator. In general, the quality requirements of the separator should have the following requirements.

1. The battery separator material itself is an insulator, but when it is made into a separator, it must have a loose porous structure and be able to absorb a large amount of electrolyte solution;

2. The chemical stability of the separator is better, and it must be resistant to sulfuric acid corrosion, oxidation and aging;

3. The separator should have greater mechanical strength and elasticity, which is convenient for installation during production;

4. The battery separator should have good wettability, that is, it should be able to be quickly soaked by the electrolyte sulfuric acid;

5. There should be no impurities in the separator that can be leached out in sulfuric acid solution that are harmful to the battery;

6. The surface color of the separator should be basically the same, and cracks and perforations are not allowed;

7. The resistance of the separator immersed in the sulfuric acid solution of the electrolyte should be small;

8. The battery separator should have a wider temperature range;

9. The separator should have a certain porosity, and the consistency of the aperture should be high;

10. The soft separator must have a shrinkage or expansion rate that meets the requirements;

11. It should have good folding resistance for soft separators;

12. The dry thickness and uniformity of the battery separator should meet the index requirements.
