Summary of oxidation resistance of PE battery separator
1. Compared with many traditional separators, PE battery separator has the strongest oxidation resistance from the material point of view. However, due to its soft texture and thin base thickness, PE battery separator is deformed during battery charging and discharging, which is easy to cause heat loss and aggravate the thermal oxidation process of the separator.
2. For the manufacturers of PE battery separators, in order to effectively avoid this phenomenon, it is recommended to improve the following aspects: improve the strength of separator ribs to avoid direct contact between the electrode plate and the weak part of the separator; Properly reduce the spacing of ribs, or increase the stiffeners, so that the heat can be discharged in time; Reasonable use of the best raw materials and reasonable control of the oil content of the separator.
3. During use, the electrolyte temperature rises due to overcharging, and the occurrence of electrolytic water reaction is another reason for oxidation.
4. For battery manufacturers, the following factors should be considered when designing and selecting PE battery separators: for batteries used in high temperature environments (such as batteries used in the south or taxis), it is recommended that the heat dissipation of batteries should be fully considered when selecting partitions, and products with a thicker total thickness should be preferred. In the case of the same base thickness, the thicker the total thickness, the larger the heat dissipation space of batteries.
